New England Equal Longest Victory Run From Tom Brady Years with Win Over Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has scored five touchdowns during the current campaign
New England tied their longest winning run since the Brady era as they overcame AFC East opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in the NFL
First-year standout Henderson led the way with three scores as the New England squad notched an eight-game winning streak for the first time since star signal-caller Brady's last year with the franchise in the 2019 season
QB Drake Maye accumulated 281 yards and a score, connecting on 25 passes from 34 throws
Victory increases the Patriots lead at the summit of the AFC East as they moved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York bottom after falling to two wins and eight losses
The visitors had gone in front at Foxborough with quarterback Fields running in a short rushing score to finish the Jets' initial series
But the New England responded in the second quarter as Henderson rushed for two short rushing scores before the ball carrier caught a pass from Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third quarter to make it 21-7
"It was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He aims to be excellent."
Justin Fields found John Metchie toward the end of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Andy Borregales kicked a two kicks in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the triumph
