Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the initial names under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

And both candidates - both of who have historic associations to the club - are part of the names to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton manager - who played more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a strong contender for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys backing from the club board as they start the search of appointing a new head coach.

O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise candidate, although he would be a shock appointment given he was released by Wolves in December last year.

The former West Ham United player is out of work which means Wolves would not need to provide any compensation.
