Arise, Sir David: Beckham Knighted by King Charles at Royal Windsor Investiture

David Beckham was bestowed with a honorary title at the historic royal residence on Tuesday. The former England captain, 50, was among those accepting honours for his contributions to sport and charity. Earlier this year, he expressed he was “immensely proud” of being recognised in the monarch's annual honors list.

Football Career Highlights

Beckham made his Premier League debut for Manchester United in 1995 and was part of the team that earned a thrilling European Cup win in 1999 when they beat Bayern Munich with last-minute strikes.

In total, he scored 85 goals and garnered accolades including six Premier League titles and domestic cup wins as a soccer professional, before ending his playing career in the past decade. Alongside his football career, he has backed a variety of philanthropic initiatives, including serving as a charitable representative for humanitarian aid organisation the United Nations Children's Fund since the mid-2000s.

Charitable and Other Roles

Last year, Beckham, who has referred to himself as a “huge royalist”, was named an ambassador for the King’s Foundation, an non-profit organization founded by the monarch in 1990. In the late nineties he was named most stylish man of the year by a leading publication and he has modelled for brands like the fashion retailer, the Italian designer, and the luxury label.

Beckham tied the knot with Victoria in the turn of the millennium and the pair have a family of four kids together – Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and their daughter.
